When did you audition/get accepted to study with the Prague Shakespeare Company?

Early March of 2017. I auditioned on a Monday after a Prague Shakespeare master class that my department held. I was accepted just a few days later.

How long will you be gone for?

I'll be leaving for London at the beginning of June and returning to the United States at the beginning of August. The summer intensive in Prague starts at the beginning of July.

What kinds of things will you be doing in London?

While in London I will be attending lectures on the 7-9 professional shows we will be seeing. I also get the chance to tour the Globe and the Royal National Theatre. We will be visiting Stratford-upon-Avon (the birthplace of Shakespeare) and other important sites throughout and around the London area. I also get some free time to explore on my own.

What will you be doing in Prague?

While at the Prague Shakespeare Company, I will be studying scene and voice work, focusing on original pronunciation, puppetry, masking, clowning, Baroque dance, hand to hand and armed combat, and more. Each student auditions at the beginning of the program and is cast into one of four professional productions being produced by the company. This year they are doing Romeo and Juliet, a gender reversed A Midsummer Night's Dream, Richard II, and The Death of Kings. On top of that, we also get to visit some of the castles in the area and will be attending other productions in the area.

How are you raising money/how much does it cost?

The entire trip as a whole costs about $9,400. The tuition for London is $4,200 and the tuition for Prague is $5,200. It's a lot, I know. I was awarded a $500 scholarship from the Isabelle Stelmahoske Theatre in London Scholarship and am currently waiting to hear back about two other possible scholarships. I am also currently working on writing a grant. I have a GoFundMe page set up as well and I will list that link below. Hopefully, Financial Aid will help to cover a large portion of the cost.

What is your GoFundMe account?

The link to my GoFundMe account is www.gofundme.com/prague-shakespeare-intensive-fund
I would be so thankful if you would consider donating!

Why a blog?

I want my family, friends, and others in my community to have a way of keeping up to date with my travels. I don't have everyone on Facebook so a blog is the best way for as many people to have this information as possible. I'm also taking my summer Shakespeare intensive as an Independent Study through the university. This makes me eligible for financial aid, as you are required to have 6 credits over the summer to do so and I needed it for the London trip. The Independent Study requires that I have some kind of project so that credits can be earned. This is why I have the minimum requirement of 2 blog posts per week.
